Meet Our Founder

Dr. Doug Hughes, EdD, CST, CSFA, CRCST, FASA, FAST

He brings nearly two decades of experience in surgical technology education, program leadership, and accreditation. He has served as a CAAHEP/ARC-STSA accreditation site visitor since 2016, led national curriculum standardization across thirteen surgical technology programs, and was named 2012 National Educator of the Year by the Association of Surgical Technologists. He holds an EdD in Educational Leadership from Washington State University and is a Fellow of both the Association of Surgical Technologists and the Association of Surgical Assistants.

Bridgent Academy is built on that experience: practical, accreditation-aware guidance for programs navigating curriculum design, faculty development, and compliance.
